چکیده

Operator splitting (OS) is a popular and convenient technique used to numerically solve reactive transport problems such as Fisher’s equation. Although OS has been widely used to solve Fisher’s equation, no characterization of the innate OS error has been presented. Here the exact characteristics of the OS error for travelling wave solutions of Fisher’s equation are revealed and explored. The analysis shows that the OS error behaves differently to previously studied linear problems by smoothing or steepening the wave front depending on the sequential order of splitting. Further analysis confirms that the OS error is reduced by implementing an alternating OS scheme. © 2005 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.

Applying fuzzy wavelet like operator to the numerical solution of linear fuzzy Fredholm integral equations and error ‎analysis

In this paper, we propose a successive approximation method based on fuzzy wavelet like operator to approximate the solution of linear fuzzy Fredholm integral equations of the second kind with arbitrary kernels. We give the convergence conditions and an error estimate. Also, we investigate the numerical stability of the computed values with respect to small perturbations in the first iteration....

Positive-Definite and Monotonic Limiters for Unrestricted-Time-Step Transport Schemes

General positive-definite and monotonic limiters are described for use with unrestricted-Courant-number flux-form transport schemes. These limiters are tested using a time-split multidimensional transport scheme. The importance of minimizing the splitting errors associated with the time-split operator and of the consistency between the transport scheme and the discrete continuity equation is de...

An optimal analytical method for nonlinear boundary value problems based on method of variation of parameter

In this paper, the authors present a modified convergent analytic algorithm for the solution of nonlinear boundary value problems by means of a variable parameter method and briefly, the method is called optimal variable parameter method. This method, based on the embedding of a parameter and an auxiliary operator, provides a computational advantage for the convergence of the approximate soluti...

Strong convergence theorem for solving split equality fixed point problem which does not involve the prior knowledge of operator norms

‎Our contribution in this paper is to propose an iterative algorithm which does not require prior knowledge of operator norm and prove a strong convergence theorem for approximating a solution of split equality fixed point problem for quasi-nonexpansive mappings in a real Hilbert space‎. ‎So many have used algorithms involving the operator norm for solving split equality fixed point problem‎, ‎...

Assessment of a non-traditional operator split algorithm for simulation of reactive transport

A non-traditional operator split (OS) scheme for the solution of the advection-diffusion-reaction (ADR) equation is proposed. The scheme is implemented with the recently published central scheme [A. Kurganov, E. Tadmor, New high-resolution central schemes for non-linear conservation laws and convection-diffusion equations, J. Comput. Phys. 160 (2000) 241–282] to accurately simulate advection-re...
